Umhlanga, the buzzing residential, commercial and resort suburb just outside of Durban, was once a seaside resort town called Umhlanga Rocks. During the early seventies it merged with La Lucia to become what it is today - Umhlanga - pronounced Umshlanga and meaning “place of reeds” in Zulu.
1101 Oyster Rock is perfectly situated on the ocean’s edge with direct beach access and just five minutes’ walk from Umhlanga Village Centre. The Village offers a wide range of restaurants, bars and night life from casual family to upmarket trendy restaurants. It is also conveniently situated for quick access to Durban City Centre, Ushaka Marine World, King Shaka International Airport and Umdloti beach and numerous other venues. Once you enter the Oyster Box you can use the many facilities offered at the Oyster Box Hotel including 5-star dining, their beautiful spa and various conference and entertainment facilities.
